True Faith

If you believe Jesus is the Son of God, you might find Trinity confusing: Especially phrases like ‘God the Son’, or when people call Mary ‘Mother of God’. I sympathise. In the Book of Revelation and other scriptures you may find comfort in clarity of verses such as the very first verse of Revelation. It calls the Father ‘God’ and Jesus is distinct from God. It starts “The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him …” If you believe Jesus is the Son of this God, the God who Jesus called The Father (his Father, his God), and you have not been baptised into the way and teachings and faith of Jesus Christ the Lord, you should probably be baptised. But do not let Trinity sayings trouble you. They arose out of third century debates with rabbinical Jews and philosophical Greeks, but the teachings you really need, that should deepen your own faith, are those you find in the New Testament. Keep believing Jesus is the Son of God, and holding to the teachings which come from him. We can believe it together: fellowship in it.
