I do believe in the reality that Jesus Christ, the Son of Man, can come at any time in punishment or blessing. Quite apart from his eventual second coming: There are times of more local visitation. We can perceive by faith and spiritual insight when he presides over the floods. He shows himself present and able to minister mercy even in the midst of punishment times. He can calm storms, even as he presides over them. He can tell us “Put down your umbrella!” and stop the torrential rain immediately we do so. I know it from experience too. He makes himself known in such ways. As he did with his twelve disciples. He is the same yesterday and today, and will be forever.
