Jesus Christ very much claimed that his words, his teachings, his works of ministry, his ways, are all from the Father. This is why it is accurate and consistent with his testimony to think of all of these things as the Father at work in him, God at work in him. So we can regard it all as God, whilst knowing that the Father Himself, independent in existence, is the one true God because He is the actual source of it all and will give all power to Jesus, making all things over the millennium subject to Jesus. Plus it is the Father to whom Jesus will eventually subject himself forever. So Jesus never claimed to actually be the Father, nor to be the one true God, which he claims the Father is.
