The Ever-Increasing Anointing

The Ever-Increasing Anointing

He came —
the Anointed One,
sent by the Father,
clothed in Spirit and power,
bearing heaven’s touch upon His brow.

The voice declared,
“This is My Son.”
And wonders followed —
blind eyes opened, storms stilled,
the poor heard good news.
The Anointing breathed through Him,
gentle as a dove,
mighty as creation’s word.

Yet even then,
the oil of gladness was not complete.
For joy was set before Him —
the joy beyond the cross.
He drank the cup of sorrow,
that the wine of joy might overflow.

Through death He passed,
and the Father raised Him high.
Then the anointing burned brighter still,
as resurrection crowned Him Lord and Christ.
The heavens rang with the laughter of the risen One,
and angels bowed before His glory.

Now His joy increases —
as hearts awaken,
as souls are gathered,
as faith grows upon the earth.
Each believer shares His oil,
each heart becomes a lamp,
each gift a fragrance of His grace.

He reigns —
and yet His anointing grows.
For when He comes again,
the dead shall rise,
the living shall be changed,
and immortality shall wear the scent of His joy.

Then He will reign until all is His,
until every heart beats His praise,
until the Father is all in all.
And when the Son yields all back in love,
His anointing will yet increase —
glory answering glory,
joy answering joy.

The throne will shine with two lights —
Father and Son,
and those who overcame
shall sit beside Him,
sharing His gladness without end.

Christ, the Anointed,
and Christians, the anointed ones,
forever sharing His life,
His Spirit, His joy —
the oil flowing ever deeper,
ever wider,
evermore.
