Belief, knowledge, and Science are all interconnected

Belief, knowledge, and Science are all interconnected.

”Scientific knowledge is not simply a collection of facts accumulated by humanity. It is a complicated relationship between observation, experience, evidence, belief, disbelief, trust and verification.

The individual scientist may have knowledge that others do not believe. The scientific community may believe things that most of its members have never personally verified. And the published scientific record may contain conclusions whose original evidential foundations are less secure than subsequent generations assume.

Perhaps the most interesting question is this:

When we say that science knows something, whose knowledge are we actually talking about?

The knowledge of the person who discovered it? The people who independently verified it? The scientific community that accepts it? Or the millions of people who believe it because they have been taught that it is true?

Those are not necessarily the same thing.”
