To have the words of the Father is a precious treasure. So I lift high what the Father once said to me in a vision in a dream at night. “I am God”, He said. Now I knew my job at work involved receiving post for my many colleagues in the very busy office, and passing it on. That work only came to me in a large wicker basket, this was in the mid 1990s, and never by hand directly to my desk. But the vision of the Father told me a big card would be put in front of me at work the next day, and in the vision it had a lot of names written on it. “Look at it”, the word said to me. I woke later and went to work, almost forgetting the vision. At the very end of the day I remembered it and wondered why nothing had happened, but just then a card was indeed put in front of me by a colleague. It was in the kind of envelope sometimes used in those days where it had a table of boxes in which each one receiving the circulated post could cross off their own name and write the next name for circulation. So it had names on the envelope, but with it was a wedding card signed by all my colleagues. I was shaken by how that vision had come true, giving total assurance to me that it was indeed God who had spoken to me, and then I remembered the command “Look at it”. I saw a note on the envelope that it had to be handed back to a certain lady upstairs by 4pm. It was now that time, so I hurriedly rushed it up to her. I had never met her but her name had actually been told me in the vision, which was exactly right. She looked shocked, and said “You left this late”. Well, I thought, if she only knew what had made me look at it closely enough, at a time of day I would normally be packing up to go home. The man getting married was doing so the following weekend and it was Christmas so there was no time after that day to get it to him in time for the wedding. God saved the day. He saved my reputation somewhat too, since if it was my fault the card never got to the groom I would have been in trouble. Never again was post put on my desk, since it was my job to distribute it. Never previously. Never subsequently. As soon as I had seen the letter I had exclaimed to by surprised and bemused colleague “God told me this would happen!”. Interestingly, word had gone around that the groom was a divorcee, and prior to all this I was a little condemning of him for remarrying, given how my church background had meant I was fully aware church and Bible did not approve. But I realised later how Jesus had made a point of not condemning such things, and it showed me the Father took a similar disposition. Yes it may well be wrong, but condemnation could be withheld and it still be as right to mercifully withhold condemnation as to condemn. God chose to ensure we honoured the wedding with that card. I signed it too. Marriage is to be honoured by all. And now I had some knowledge of the Father first hand to help me tell others of Him out of that knowledge, rather than speaking with ignorance. Before this I had asked for that in prayer, to know so that I could preach Him, but my prayer was to know Father, and Son, and Holy Spirit. Some time later the Son would come to me too, but not in a dream, out in a torrential rain storm, saying “Put down your umbrella” then stopping the storm the very instant I did so. Some time later still the Holy Spirit came upon me as I went to church, and gave me interpretation of a message in tongues “Consider the trees. They put forth buds and leaves. They do so by the power of the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.” The speaker of the tongues, unaware I had received the interpretation in my own spirit and mind silently, spoke it aloud himself in the very same words. So now I knew Father, Son, and Holy Spirit directly, experientially, and knew by experience that the Lord Jesus Christ is indeed the Son of God. Now I could tell others, but knowing what I was telling. Yet it also came with awareness that I had new hope in all this because it made me someone God was putting on the path towards sonship and eternal life.
