Esdras calls Apocryphal scriptures a set of scriptures for the wise alone. I think Enoch is quarantined as Apocrypha to keep it out of hands of fools who would easily distort and abuse it. The truths it contains have thus been kept fairly pure, kept away from the wiles of Trinitarians and Modalists. Now they are still there for the last days when they become so poignant. Truths found in them are wise truths, secrets of the kingdom, best pondered by those with wise understanding of the gospel or true spiritual insights and gifts from the Holy Spirit. Yet in the writings of Enoch are also messages for everyone such as abstaining from violence in view of the certainty of coming judgement. So I personally would like to see the label ‘Apocrypha’ dropped. It is made a pejorative term by the very kinds of people who would abuse the Enoch scriptures. Perhaps that is why the label needs to stay. The same people would make the whole Book of Enoch pejorative, if it were more widely known. But time is short and the righteous need to know this book. Those who are wise will dig down into Jesus’ teachings and his meaning to learn to rightly obey him, and in so doing they will discover his love of the scripture writings of Enoch. Enoch in turn greatly loves the Son of Man, we now know as Jesus Christ. The Son of Man in the Enoch scriptures is mainly about the name of Jesus Christ being there in times before Abraham and before the world began. The name, manifested in such times as a heavenly spirit, heavenly originally before manifestation in the created flesh. Something special the Book of Enoch contains is the saying of Enoch (some think it was Noah) on ascending, where he speaks of ascending “to that Son of Man”. That is fairly solid evidence of pre-NT preexistence belief. Enoch knew the Son of Man in visions but prided himself on the delight of physically being taken ip to that Son of Man, as one existing, not only a foreknowledge shown in prophetic visions.
