There is good evidence that Jesus believes doctrines not taught by later Christians. The messages in the gospels, messages they attribute to Jesus and his leading apostles, include two particular doctrinal positions of the faith of Jesus which were later contradicted by Church Councils—just one or two centuries later. One is to regard the Book of Enoch writings as scripture. The other is to regard the Father as the one true God, or simply, uniquely, as God. Now this has a major ramification with regard to how we should understand the gospels. It is important evidence that the gospels kept to teachings distinct from later Church Council mandated doctrines, which makes it unlikely that Christians living after the times of these councils fabricated these gospels. For a believer in Jesus, led by the Spirit into this truth, it also means we are put at odds with Church Councils and canon rulings such as the Westminster Confession if we adhere faithfully to the teachings of Jesus, the true light of the world sent by God.
