I like to relate my faith to my personal knowledge. I live in Britain, and here we have towns with remains of ancient temple foundations dating back to times of Roman emperor Claudius. So I can relate my faith to local knowledge of this time. I once took a holiday in Antalya in Turkey, in neighbouring town Side, where the same historic period was very significant in religion, according to New Testament accounts regarding Attalia, as it was then called, and Perga. Perga lies inland to the north-east of Attalia (modern Antalya) and, although it is not directly on the coastal route to Side, while travelling from Antalya toward Side along the coast I would likely have been passing not far to the south of it. According to the New Testament book of Acts, the apostle Paul passed Attalia, visited Perga twice (once when he travelled form Cyprus to Perga, and again when returning from a time preaching around the region), and he actually did preach in Perga on his second visit to it, all very close to that time in history. So much has happened since events of that time and place, but it started from the visit of the resurrected Jesus Christ to Paul and from his sending of Paul to preach. It helps me to relate my faith in this resurrected Jesus to my factual knowledge of the time and places. It starts to fall into place.
