The USA founding Christians insisted on every doctrine being biblical, but what if this insistence was not itself biblical?
The USA founders insisted on every doctrine being biblical. Did the Bible say that any nation should base everything on the Bible?
Should our lives and doctrines be rooted and grounded in the Bible or rooted and grounded in love?
By love I mean the following. If someone I love asks me for bread, I do not give them a stone. For their part, they do not do a course studying bread in case one day they get a stone from me. They know I love them and they trust me.
The saints know they are loved like this. They are adopted as God’s children. They know the Father loves them like this. The will of the Father is that they be rooted and grounded in love. That they have the power to know His love. They do not need to become experts in the scriptures just to check He does not deceive them or give them something harmful when they ask for good. Their first and foremost knowledge and expertise is in how to know His love and how to love like that.
