The Ten commandments are treated by Jesus differently to Law. He teaches individual obedience to the ten commandments as the means to have eternal life. So does the Holy Spirit teach this. Sin, as Jesus regards it, is atrocious actions like lies, murder, adultery, theft, cowering in spineless dread, idolatry, the dishonouring of one’s parents. The ten commandments teach against such things. Remembering the commandments in order to live accordingly leads to eternal life. The Holy Spirit leads towards obedience to these commands together with all the commands of Jesus Christ.
