Maybe fifty years from now the world will all be ruled by one man overall, and by many of his faithful adherents alongside him, for a thousand years, because all these will be resurrected, immortals. By this of course I mean Jesus Christ and his saintly followers. He spent years of ministry claiming this throne: the Christ throne. Mysterious in his origin, mysterious in his death and resurrection and then his subsequent destination, he has been likened to the mysterious priest of Jerusalem, Melchizedek, with mysterious beginning and end. Our very year, which this year as I write is 2026, is numbered from what was once considered his year of birth, though we now say this was out by half a dozen years or so. Prophecies about this Christ—chosen by God, sent by God, given ultimate rule by God—long existed in the ancient world. Some went back to the dawn of civilisation and spoke of his rule we have yet to experience if we live to see it, or are raised to take part in it. One points to a time, approximate, of that rule, though Jesus emphasised that the day and hour is not known even by him, only by the One who sent him, God. Then after that thousand years, he will judge all, living and departed (brought back for that judgement), and sit beside God on God’s final throne forever, with his human family around him, those faithful to him who return like lost prodigals to be forever with the Father, God.
