Miracles and the Mediator

As Jesus was teaching about miracles, he mentioned that his disciples and those who truly believed in him would do what he was doing and even greater. The reason he gave for even greater works may shed light on his mediator work ongoing in heaven, mediating with the Father for humans. He said the works and greater works of disciples would be because he goes to the Father. What is his logic? Assuming he expected this to be understood, the most obvious reason would be that the Father is really the miracle worker (John 10) and the miracle takes faith for the disciple to involve the love and power of the Father. And, since Jesus would be out of sight, even greater miracles would be needed to show his light to the world. Jesus knows the Father like nobody else knows Him and not only knows what pleases Him but is able to please and find with the Father. With Jesus at the Father’s side, he can intercede for a disciple working a miracle to bring to bear the full love and power and wisdom of the Father to bring about even the greatest of miracles, greater than those of Jesus in his gospel ministry. We need to know that we are just as capable of faith and miraculous works because Jesus was truly like us in doing what he so famously did. It is all about faith and the Father’s good will and good pleasure, and walking in the light, working by the light of the world, Jesus His Son sent by Him.
