It is always a challenge to foresee the future, especially in military matters. In old times it was normal to consult prophets, or an oracle, or to wait for a vision from a divine being, when about to undertake military action. Nowadays leaders rush headlong, propelled by some of their preferred advisors, perhaps the more belligerent, but maybe not the most belligerent. We do have the Book of Revelation. Words of prophets are made more certain. Revelation has a graphic vision to console a future lone leader threatened by all, the son of the woman who reaches the moon. A dragon spews a river after this lone leader and the earth opens up and swallows it. The one side is under pressure today by threats from the other side. Imagine tanks charging after the most isolated leader, then a metaphorical opening up of the earth to metaphorically swallow them all. Imagery, yes. But prophecy has lessons of what is possible with God. God overcomes mere chance. ‘Chance favours the bold’, but better to know who God favours. Events can take a twist.
