The Book of Revelation is telling us Judgement Day will come. Jesus the judge appeared far in advance in order to educate humanity what he will use as criteria, how he will decide who lives forever and who perishes forever, and how we ought best to live our lives to be best ready for that day. Foolish are those who ignore him. He died to give us the best possible prospects for living with a clean slate in the light of his teachings about it all, and God raised him to live forever to show us that immortal life is still part of the prospects for those who wisely listen.
