Trinitarianism is now somewhat anachronistic

Trinitarianism is a post-apostolic reconstruction,

  • created in a very specific cultural and intellectual environment,
  • to address controversies and pressures that are not present today.

In this sense, it is historically “anachronistic,” meaning:

  • it reflects the intellectual battles of the 2nd–5th centuries,
  • but does not match the worldview of either the earliest Christians or the modern world.
