Love means doing unto others what I would have them do unto me. That means not stealing: I want people not to steal from me so I am not to steal from them. I am not to lie to them. I am to moderate my anger. It is all about living life so my life has the same effect on others as I want their life to have effect on me. God commands it. Jesus teaches it. We too must teach it, if we are following him. Teach it to the next generation. If we love God, we will do all this. If we love Jesus too. Holding to the teachings of Jesus, we will know the truth. Knowing Jesus’ own character of fearlessness, duty, faithfulness to his Father, his God. It frees us to be the same. This freedom is good news for our prospects on Judgement Day, when he separates the sinner from the saint. We are called to cease sin. We are called to be his saints.
