Great prospects

The promising gospel message in the Gospel of John. It reveals great promise for your eternal prospects.

Jesus is the Light of the World, sent by God, his Father.

John 8:12 (ESV):

“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’”

John 12:44–46 (ESV):

“Whoever believes in me, believes not in me but in him who sent me. And whoever sees me sees him who sent me. I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.”

Jesus died for you.

John 10:11 (ESV):

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”

John 15:13 (ESV):

“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.”

Jesus now lives, alive from the dead.

John 10:17–18 (ESV):

“For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again.”

John 20:19–20 (ESV):

“Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’ When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.”

So:

Believe he is this light of the world sent by God.

John 6:29 (ESV):

“This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”

Because you believe, if indeed you do believe in him, hold to what he taught. Learn it in order to put it into practice the way he taught.

John 8:31 (ESV):

“If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples.”

In doing so you become his disciple and he will accept you as his own.

John 10:27–28 (ESV):

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.”

Because you become his own, he will do what God sent him to do: he will save you from your enslaving sins, by you knowing the truth.

John 8:32, 34–36 (ESV):

“And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

“Everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin… So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”

If he sets you free, by you knowing the truth, by the Spirit of truth he gives you, you will be free indeed.

John 14:16–17 (ESV):

“I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth.”

John 16:13 (ESV):

“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth.”

Then you have no need to die in your sins and you can face judgment without still being in your sins when you face it.

John 8:24 (ESV):

“Unless you believe that I am he you will die in your sins.”

John 5:24 (ESV):

“Whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.”

Continue in this discipleship so he keeps saving you and you live in fellowship with him and with the Father who sent him.

John 14:23 (ESV):

“If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.”

John 17:3 (ESV):

“And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.”
