Saving faith

AI: “faith that does not hold to Jesus’ teachings is not true saving faith or genuine discipleship. Jesus himself made it clear that true faith is demonstrated through obedience to His word. In John 8:31, He said, "If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples." Likewise, James 2:17 warns that "faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead."

Many people may claim faith in Jesus while disregarding His commands, but this is more of an intellectual acknowledgment or cultural affiliation rather than a transformative, saving faith. Matthew 7:21-23 is especially sobering:

"Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’”

This passage shows that merely claiming faith or even performing religious works does not equate to true discipleship. True faith is accompanied by obedience, love, and a transformed life (see John 14:15 – “If you love me, you will keep my commandments”).”
