Subordinate power

Jesus acknowledges that all power, including Pilate’s, is given by God, except for the Father’s power, which is inherent. In John 19:11, he tells Pilate that his authority over Jesus exists only because it was granted from above, affirming that earthly rulers do not possess autonomous power. This distinction also applies to Jesus himself, as he repeatedly states that his authority is given by the Father (John 5:19, Matthew 28:18). This challenges Trinitarian claims of co-equal divine power, instead supporting a view where Jesus, as the Christ, operates with conferred authority rather than possessing it by nature. Thus, the Father remains the ultimate source of power, while Jesus, though exalted, remains subordinate.
